“Well paced primer for SPO-JSON beginners. It helps to give structure to the entire concept of SPO-JSON formatting for someone who is looking to get started. And for people who already spent a few (or many) hours searching online for code samples and answers, this course is also useful once again to structure everything in a proper sequence. The knowledge shared about each topic is about 50/50 conceptual/practical. The fact that Steve is open to feedback and willing to incorporate it means that this course should remain relevant and valuable down the road. There are 2 modules I think would add value to this course: 1) a basic overview of SPO Permissions and 2) Form formatting. The permissions play a crucial role in any business/enterprise environment and their impacts on Lists usability is significant - specially in the context of the different user experiences if a list is being viewed inside a SPO webpage, an MS Teams tab, MS Lists web app or MS Lists PWA . That topic is a deep rabbit hole and a messy one - the way Classic SP (2013) is half integrated/migrated to SPO makes it sometimes difficult to understand what impact the oddly named 'classic settings' will have on the modern experience. As I said this topic is very vast, but at least a basic module to make people aware of the impact of permissions would be valuable - as an invitation for people to research on the topic on their own. The Form formatting was not discussed at all. Could be a quick overview of the conditional field show/hide feature and basic hyperlinks in header/footer. Although one might argue that teaching this topic will/would soon be obsolete when MS release the new forms experience which is most likely going to replace the current Form formatting approach. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/roadmap?filters=&searchterms=124865 One cannot complain that they learned too much or not enough for topics like SPO-JSON. It's more about your mindset and your own ability to gather bunch of pieces from different sources and combine them in the solution that meets the needs of your client. This course is one of those many sources, and even for a more advanced SPO-JSON user like myself, it helped me to validate my own knowledge and to remap my approach in a linear/progressive fashion - which is the opposite of firing a google search and skimming through 30-40 different tabs on various topics.”
